Wardrobe Wears

Since many items have been in my closet for much longer than I have been tracking wear counts, I prefer to compare normed wear counts. I do this using wears per month, a concept that I was introduced to by m gets dressed.

Wears per month for each item is calculated using the following formula

(total wears)/(number months owned since 1/2019)

If an item has been owned for less than a month, the item is considered to be 1 month old. Overall, it seems that most items do not get worn that frequently each month. This makes sense considering the number of items I own (135) and my aversion to doing laundry. There are a few outliers though; I seem to have a few favorites that I choose more frequently.

Before I tracked wear counts, I thought that I wore most seasonally appropriate items at least a couple of times per month if not more. I was surprised to find that my wears per month were much lower. After two years of tracking, I am now content with the fact that almost all items are worn at least once a year.
